Tigers Cubs: After the Monsoon
Shot on Location at Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Central India in November 2010 with the Canon 1D Mark IV and 500mm f/4
This was another successful visit because we got to photograph these gorgeous 15 month old Bengal tigers known as the Mirchahani cubs. Bengal tigers are critically endangered and researchers were saying that there are less than 3,200 tigers left in the wild, down from 100,000 a hundred years prior. But good news - wild tiger numbers have increased to 3,890 per the World Wildlife organization and half of them are in India.
Unfortunately, the infamous Mirchahani cubs were involved in a few human conflict incidents a year after we saw them; and, it was reported that the cubs (and possibly their mom as well) were relocated to a zoo. This was tragic news to hear.
